This was always going to be a tough game for the Whitchurch team after travelling 100 miles and playing on a new 4G pitch with a couple of new debutants due to player availability.

This was always going to be a tough game against second placed Birmingham side Moseley oak in the league. It was however the home side that took the lead with a try from centre Henry Hockenhull in the first minute of play.

Newent arrived at Edgeley Park as clear league leaders with a 100 per cent record and it was hard not to see why in this hard fought, but never close, battle. The slick hands of their speedy backs created a try within eight minutes to put them ahead but the Shropshire men fought back and forced a penalty a few minutes later.
